Scott Joplin Mural An Eye-Catching Texarkana Site

An outdoor mural in Texarkana honors the city’s most famous son.

The Scott Joplin Mural is on display in the downtown district on Main Street at Third Street. Joplin was a ragtime composer and piano player who lived from 1867-1917 and posthumously won a Pulitzer Prize for his work.

Besides showcasing Joplin, the colorful work of art also features musical notes of the final measures of his most famous song, The Entertainer. The mural is on the south wall of a building at 311 Main near the Perot Theatre.
